GENERAL VIEW

The overall form of this building is a combination of a bridge and a building. A minimalism outlook was selected regarding to 

CORRIDOR

PLATFORM ABOVE CORRIDOR

The corridor of the building works as the function of a bridge to connect the Square House and Tyree Energy Engineering Building. 

LECTURE THEATRE

The lecture theatre follows the shape of the building aside the main corridor taking use of the ascending slope.

LIBRARY

STUDIO SPACE

The studio and the library are both underneath the main corridor, the ceiling is one-way glass which allows natural lights come into the room.  

SOLAR PANELS ON THE ROOF

MOVING SOLAR PANELS

As the location of this building has a great exposure to sunlight, so that solar panels were installed on the roof and aside the below rooms to utilise solar energy. The movable solar panels can block the sunlight from the rooms when it is too strong and taking use of the energy at the same time.

GALLERY WITH MOVABLE WALLS

The movable walls can move vertically between the gallery area (above) and studio area (below). They can be used as structure to hold art pieces when there is a gallery approaching and usually they separate the studio space and hold architectural drawings.

Inspired by the geometry and curves of the product of Bernabeifreeman, the exterior of the building is similar to a combination of different geometric forms. The general material chosen for the building is concrete with several neat texture providing light color and organic forms.

DETAIL IMAGE

Like the clear design of both Bernabeifreeman and Auto Fabrica, the interior of building is designed to have a sense of openness and integrity. The use of multiple arches provides the showroom of Auto Fabrica flowing style and movement. The showroom of Bernabeifreeman mainly used the element of rectangle and simple line, which tried to match the style of Bernabeifreeman product. The staircase to the first floor is merged together with the arches, which emphasise the integrity of the design.

The clients I choose are Bernabeifreeman(above ground) and Auto Fabrica(Below ground).

SECTION

The staircase for Auto Fabrica is a spiral stair with an elevator in the center. The material of the stairs is textured metal steel, which is used to match the metallic scene of motorbike. A 360 ° view of the workshop can be reach by the spiral stair and it provides the visitors and working stuffs a straightforward understanding of the making process and progress of the motorbike. The elevator is designed to transport the motorbike from the workshop to the showroom more conveniently.

SECTION

The materials for the staircase of Bernabeifreeman are birch wood, paint wood and glass. As Bernabeifreeman products have a strong sense of geometry, cleanness. The edge of stairs and handrail are curved, which shows a simple and organic form. The staircase surrounds the elevator of the below ground and this also gives a open sight of the showroom and the items on the wall. The length of the staircase was also increased and the height of steps was decreased by this method, which provide the visitors more time to interact with the interior environment.
